Fearful of the strength of the Ancient Demons, the remaining demon races banded together and formed a league to annihilate the Ancient Demons and began the fight with a surprise attack. The intense fighting continued for a long time with no end in sight. In the midst of the war, "Duel Pone Jack Avenger," the master of the magical sword "Eclipse," joined the war, taking it into a whole new direction. The ever reckless "Duel" lost all reason, and as the war continued, his lust for destruction awakened within him, and after destroying Ancient Demons and lesser demons alike, disappeared. The great wizard "Oz Pone Max Reinhardt" barely survived, and on the very spot where he was wounded, he created the "Grandark," a magical sword that would rival "Duel"'s sword "Eclipse." However, Oz was unable to control Grandark's powerful ego, and began searching for someone who could wield it.
After much time had passed, such that the past was virtually forgotten, a mysterious swordsman called the "Wanderer" appeared in "Aernas." He carried with him a strangely formed sword, the likes of which no one had ever seen while destroying every obstacle in his path, and while looking for evidence of an unknown mysterious power, he encounters the Grand Chase in Xenia.
Special Abilities
Stance Change
Zero can use his Grandark to attack and chain powerful combos, or to become a unfaltering defensive force. Initially, players may expand his Neutral Stance, which increases the amount of attacks a player can deal with Grandark unsheathed; or they can expand his Defensive Stance , and reduces the amount of damage dealt, and allows users to reflect select projectiles. These stances can be enhanced as players unlock more of his classes, and they also gain access to Offensive Stance which grants Zero stronger attacks capable of dealing more damage to enemies, as well as a short dash ability.
- Zero cannot unsheathe Grandark while in Fatal status.
- When unsheathing Grandark, Zero's movement speed is decreased, and this can leave him vulnerable to attacks and especially grabs. However, while Grandark is unsheathed, Zero gains a pseudo-super-armor status, not being able to be knocked down or halted mid-attack.
AP Skills
Zero is one of the four characters who cannot use skills by charging MP with the Z button. His MP bar is replaced with an AP Bar which allows him to use special moves including Special attacks, Passive skills, or powerful attacks that chain with his basic combo. Zero can carry a total of 5 AP moves with him which are stored in the A, S, D, F, and G keys. Each skill has its own cooldown time, which keeps other players from spamming skills. AP generates over time and can be made faster by using the buffs in his skill tree.
- While using Zero, the Taunt key is V and the Pet attack key is the Left Shift key.
- Zero cannot use any of his skills initially from his normal stance (i.e. when Grandark is sheathed). Zero must enter Neutral Stance to use any and all of his AP Skills. This can, unfortunately, leave him open to counters pre-skill at times.
- When using skills while in Defensive Stance or Offensive Stance, Zero will swap back to Neutral Stance before using the selected skill, whether the player uses a technique or a special attack.
- After casting a special attack, Zero will immediately sheath Grandark after the skill, unless a the player uses a technique which keeps Grandark unsheathed.
